Streaming Platform LiveMe Announces $100,000 Broadcaster Development Fund

LiveMe is investing in its community of mobile live streamers. The app has announced its Broadcaster Development Fund, through which it will identify up-and-coming creators and supply them with mentorship, promotion, resources, and other perks.

At the Broadcaster Development Fund’s onset, $100,000 has been set aside for it, and LiveMe also plans to supply the program with the human resources it will need to operate. Each creator selected for the Fund will be assigned his or her own talent manager and will receive financial assistance as they develop their broadcasts.

A press release from LiveMe didn’t mention any specific creators who have been tapped for this initiative, though the ultimate goal is to “bring a more diverse range of content” to the app’s viewers. Live.me will advertise the Broadcaster Development Fund through its platform and will promote it by having a significant presence at VidCon.

“With the proliferation of smartphones, everyone has the power to create and reach millions of people in the palm of their hands, yet very few are able to turn it into a living,” said LiveMe Head of US Operations Khudor Annous in the release. “We believe everyone should have a platform to share their talents, gain an audience and receive fair compensation for their work, so we’re truly excited to help independent creators build a strong foundation in the live broadcasting space.”

Live.me has managed to reel in its own piles of capital as it continues to scale its app. Its previous funding includes a $50 million round it announced in November 2017.
