T-Series calls for subscribers as MrBeast closes in on YouTube subscriber mark

The race to become the most-subscribed channel on YouTube is heating up, and the channel that currently holds that title is rallying its base in an attempt to stay on top. T-Series uploaded a video urging its fans to “unite together” as MrBeast moves within 11 million subscribers of the record label’s YouTube-leading mark.

On April 15, a new video on the T-Series channel prompted viewers to subscribe and “embark on this journey as one united family.” The clip also featured a message attributed to late T-Series founder Gulshan Kumar: The quote expresses Kumar’s desire to “put India and my people at top of the international platform.”

This is no ordinary call for subscribers. T-Series is currently YouTube’s most-subscribed channel; its 261 million fans tune in to watch music videos and film clips. T-Series took YouTube’s subscriber crown in 2019 after a dramatic, widely publicized battle with Swedish gamer PewDiePie.

Many MrBeast fans learned about the North Carolina-based creator (whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson) after watching videos he uploaded in support of PewDiePie. The YouTube subscriber race was a launching pad for Donaldson, and as he ascended to a higher tier of internet stardom, he kept that record in his sights. In 2022, he eclipsed PewDiePie’s subscriber mark. Months later, he vowed to catch T-Series as well.

The gap between the two channels has tightened since then. Over the past year, T-Series has added about 23 million new subscribers. That’s a faster growth rate than most YouTube channels, but MrBeast has set a torrid pace for himself. Over the same period, Donaldson has added 105 million news subscribers on his primary YouTube hub and has eclipsed T-Series in our Tubefilter charts on several occasions.

T-Series’ call for subs may keep it in the top spot for a little bit longer, but change seems inevitable. MrBeast is on track to become the most-subscribed channel on YouTube, and as he approaches, this website should make sure its servers are in ship shape. The subscriber crown is about to go to the United States, but MrBeast has his own message for Indian fans. “I love my fans from India and this has nothing to do with countries,” he tweeted last year. “I just want to be #1 most subscribed.”
