There are only a few channels that are even within 100 million views of these South Asian juggernauts. Here are some of the most eye-popping stats:
Chart Toppers
Anaya Kandhal ruled our Global Top 50 during April. We published five weekly rankings during the fourth month of the year, and young Anaya finished #1 in all of them. This India-based trendsetter has become a chart stalwart thanks to its agreeable, family-friendly content, and its performance during the final week of April was one of the best seven-day stretches it has ever had on YouTube. The main Anaya Kandhal channel collected 810.1 million weekly views, which gave it a lifetime total of more than 22 billion.
T-Series is often the #1 channel in the Global Top 50, but during April, the Indian record label has played second fiddle to Anaya Kandhal. It earned yet another runner-up finish in our worldwide ranking during a week when it pulled in 669.3 million weekly views. With more than 253 billion lifetime views in all, T-Series is the most-watched channel in YouTube history, though its status as the most-subscribed channel is just 10 million subs away from changing.
One of the breakout stars of the 2024 calendar year is in third place in the Global Top 50. Like her Indian compatriots, The geeta gurjar has become a top five regular by appealing to viewers across cultural and linguistic boundaries. Geeta’s latest seven-day sum — 538.1 million weekly views — is one of the highest totals she has ever posted. It represented a 13% increase over the previous week. The geeta gurjar now has more 22 million subscribers to go along with her 16 billion lifetime views.
KL Bro Biju Rithvik completes the South Asian superfecta at the front of this week’s Global Top 50. The family-oriented hub, which publishes videos in the regional Indian language of Malayalam, continues to charm local audiences with its adorable brand of family content. That approach gave it a big boost during the final week of April. Like Anaya Kandhal, KL Bro Biju Rithivk held onto the same chart position it reached a week ago. It cemented its position in fourth place by collecting 513.5 million weekly views.
The only non-Indian channel in this week’s global top five is MrBeast. The most popular creator in North America continued his legendary run by hauling in 486.8 million weekly views.
Top Gainers
Since South Asian channels dominated this week’s Global Top 50, let’s take a deeper dive into one of them. You may remember Aayush and Abhay as a pair of brotherly dancers who captivated YouTube Shorts with their lively routines. Now, they’re back in the ranking, but they’re no longer propelled by their dance moves. The name of their current Top 50 entrant is titled Aayush and Abhay Reacts.
In their latest chart-topping videos, Aayush and Abhay take a break from their dazzling football and Bollywood-inspired hijinks to react to other people’s videos. Their most-watched reaction video has more than 100 million views and features some of the artistic qualities that also draw viewers to Aayush and Abhay’s originals.
Most of their reax, however, are incongruous when compared to their main channel. I don’t know if I have much interest in two kids’ opinions on the meaning of love, but there are about 80 million Aayush and Abhay Reacts viewers who feel differently. And of course, since we’re talking about a YouTube Shorts channel in the year 2024, our discussion would not be complete without some sigma girl content.
The popularity of Aayush and Abhay’s reaction channel is so great that it has even eclipsed the duo’s original YouTube home. During the final week of April, Aayush and Abhay Reacts collected 264 million weekly views, which put it in 34th place in the Global Top 50. That sum represented a week-over-week gain of 26% for the South Asian brothers. Their reaction channel counts more than 2.3 billion lifetime views in all.
Though Aayush and Abhay’s channels have a distinctive South Asian flavor, they seem to be taking cues from America’s most-watched creator. By splitting their reactions onto a separate channel, they’re following the example set by MrBeast. And like MrBeast, their secondary channel is as big of a hit as their first — especially on YouTube Shorts.
