The five U.S.-based YouTube channels that got the most views this month all landed at least 1.5 billion monthly views during April. The leader of that powerful quintet even managed to approach the two billion mark.

Though most of the entrants in the U.S. Top 100 focus on children’s content or Shorts (or both!) there are some exceptions. Read on to learn more:
Chart Toppers
MrBeast was the second-place finisher in last month’s U.S. Top 100, but in April, he improved his position by one. For the second time this year, the creator whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson earned the most monthly views among all channels that fly the stars and stripes. On the primary MrBeast channel, Donaldson collected 1.98 billion monthly views, which brought his lifetime total above 47 billion. By this time next month, MrBeast could be the most-subscribed channel on YouTube. Donaldson is currently chasing T-Series in that category.
MaviGadget is sitting in second place in the U.S. Top 100. Like MrBeast, MaviGadget is a former #1 finisher in this chart who has delivered consistent results during the 2024 calendar year. MaviGadget’s videos, which often depict tools, machinery, and craftspeople, scratch an itch for viewers who are seeking “oddly satisfying” content on YouTube Shorts. With that contingent at its back, MaviGadget picked up 1.89 billion monthly views during April. With 24 billion lifetime views, MaviGadget is still playing catch-up when compared to the other channels in the top four.
The next channel in the U.S. Top 100 has nearly three times as many lifetime YouTube views as MaviGadget. Toys and Colors has been a factor in our American charts for years, but it leveled up its operation last year, when it plotted a new mix of short-form and long-form content. Its multifaceted approach to YouTube powered it in April 2024, when it scooped up 1.85 billion monthly views. Those results allowed Toys and Colors to move up to the #3 spot in the U.S. Top 100 and bring its subscriber count within a stone’s throw of 55 million.
CoComelon – Nursery Rhymes earned a fourth place finish in the U.S. Top 100. CoComelon’s focus on long-form content has slightly blunted its impact in the age of Shorts, but it’s still a major factor in the world of internet children’s content. Its primary YouTube hub collected 1.82 billion monthly views during our most recent 30-day measurement period. Though that sum was not high enough for CoComelon to retain the #3 spot, the Moonbug-affiliated hub is still the most-watched U.S.-based YouTube channel of all time, with 181 billion lifetime views.
Zack D. Films rounds out the U.S. Top 100 for April 2024. The short-form hub used a diligent schedule and clean narration to amass 1.67 billion monthly views, most of which came on YouTube Shorts.
Top Gainers
One of the most popular categories on YouTube Shorts is the “couple pranks” genre, in which domestic bliss is interrupted by outrageous practical jokes. There are plenty of channels that have cracked our charts by working within that niche, but if you ask me, the most skilled pranksters-in-love are Lindy and Jlo, who express their affection for one another by pulling off some of the most elaborate gags on YouTube.
I say gags, plural, although Lindy and Jlo are best known for one specific prank: In most of their top Shorts, one member of the titular couple pops a paint-filled balloon so that it lands on the other person’s head. There’s a lot to appreciate in these videos, from Lindy and Jlo’s long-range Nerf gun accuracy to their ability to shared strike moving targets. Their most impressive pranks, in my opinion, are the ones that require multiple stages of setup, like the final explosion in the duo’s most-watched compilation. Lindy and Jlo aren’t just pranking one another; they’re out here playing chess with paint-filled balloons.
Lindy and Jlo’s (very specific) version of date night sent them rocketing up the charts during the fourth month of the year. They finished 67th in the U.S. Top 100 after more-than-doubling their view count from March. Their total YouTube haul for April topped out at 378.6 million monthly views, a number that compared favorably to other family channels like Logan Chitwood and The McFive Circus.
As with any channel of this ilk, Lindy and Jlo’s hijinks raise questions about the status of their relationship. What makes their pairing so sweet, however, is that they seem to earnestly appreciate it when their other half gets them real good. Their top videos show that there’s plenty of love between them, even though they may argue about who gets to be on paint cleanup duty.
Channel Distribution
This month, 78 channels in the Top 100 are primarily active on YouTube Shorts.
