Some people like to sip the tea, but YouTube is sipping the pickle juice. The video platform has launched In A Pickle, a dishy interview series in which creators have two choices: Share your secrets or end up with a sour taste in your mouth.
In A Pickle will go live via the official YouTube Blog, where the first episode of the series is now live. The show’s format is reminiscent of the hit series Hot Ones, in that it pairs pointed interrogation with extreme food challenges. Instead of eating increasingly hot wings, the guest creators on In A Pickle respond to a set of questions. For each question they skip, they must down a shot of pickle juice.
That doesn’t sound like much of a punishment to me, but inaugural guest Haley Kalil has her own opinions. The model, funnywoman, and professional troll answered almost all of the questions YouTube threw at her. But when asked to reveal her least-favorite collaborator, she chose to pucker up rather than name names.

Putting aside all of the dill-flavored hijinks, In A Pickle offers some valuable insights into creator lifestyles and communities. “I work harder now than I did when I was working in an immunology lab,” Kalil said during her interview. “Hey dad, are you watching? It’s hard work, I promise.”
A YouTube blog post revealed the creators who will show up in future episodes. “In a Pickle is a brand new 7-part video series featuring Peet Montzingo, Ashley Yi, Carter Kench, Jordan Matter, The Beverly Halls, Haley Kalil, and Ms. Beanie,” reads the post. “The interview series launches today [August 16] with new videos rolling out bi-weekly on Wednesdays.”
If you want to keep up with In A Pickle, you should keep an eye on the YouTube Blog. If you’d rather watch the show directly, you can find the first episode on the YouTube Creator Liaison channel, where Rene Ritchie holds court and acts as an intermediary between his employer and its creator community.
